  • I think that zoning of schools, particularly elementary schools, is
    extremely important.  
  • Right now, the area that needs the most focus is the Twin Creeks, Deer Creek, and Ranch at
    Cypress Creek subdivisions that all supply Deer Creek Elementary School.
  • Deer Creek Elementary School is, and has been, at or above capacity since it opened.
  • Permanent portables nicknamed "cottages" are educating an entire grade of this school.
  • Although the last elementary zoning committee will provide SOME relief to this school in 07-08, it is
    not nearly enough.  
  • Placement of the next elementary school should focus on this area and keep in mind the other
    nearby schools like Cypress, Faubion, and Naumann Elementary Schools.


  • I believe the security of our schools is not tight enough.

  • Most of our elementary schools can be walked into with ease.
  • Despite the "Raptor" system that issues a photo sticker "badge" to each visitor that
    comes on campus, being able to walk right past the office without obtaining one
    devalues the importance of the system.
  • Knowing who is in our schools is vital to ensuring the safety of our students.
  • Thankfully, nothing tragic has happened to any of our students, but wouldn't it be a
    shame if someone walked into one of our schools, abducted a child and no one could
    even tell the authorities who was actually on campus at the time?
  • No one should be able to enter our schools without going through the front office first.  
  • A large poster instructing people to report to the office first is not the answer.
