- I believe a nationwide search for a new superintendent candidate is
essential, however, that search should not exclude internal
candidates that meet the selection criteria for the position. I believe
that community involvement in the selection process is also
essential with the ultimate decision resting on the board.
- I believe that the district should work closely with local government
and city planning officials to select school sites that best serve the
students living in the communities of this district.
- Doing so can help eliminate or greatly reduce the number of "permanent" portables we
have in our district and make them truly temporary if at all necessary. - This should also make the zoning process more logical and fair to the students.
- I believe that science and math need to be addressed much more
aggressively at the elementary level to build strong foundations
leading into middle and high school.
- I believe board meetings should be televised on cable access
channels like the City of Cedar Park's city council, 4A and 4B board
meetings.
- Doing so will expose more people to the processes of our district. Lack of attendance
at school board meetings does not mean that there is a lack of interest. Many people
have schedules that just don't allow for regular attendance. Being able to watch it on tv,
whether live or not, will get many more people involved and allow people exposure to
the board they wouldn't otherwise have.
