| Rebecca Pavlat earned her bachelor's degree in general biology from Baylor University in May 2000. After graduation she began working at her uncle's shrimp farm to help out during the busy harvest season. After harvest she got a job doing environmental chemistry work for a small private lab in the Houston area. During her time there she learned new applications for all types of chemistry. She then got an offer to work for a research program at Texas State University-San Marcos in the Biochemistry Department. This allowed her to see the differences being made in cancer research every day. After three and a half years, she and her husband relocated to Round Rock, Texas where they now live with a dog, turtle, and one large fish tank. They also have two children. |
